Savoury Mince and Phutu .


  • 1 x 450g Bull Brand Savoury Mince
  • 2 cups Maize Meal
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Salt, fine


  1. Add the 2 1/2 cups of water to a pot and the salt and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the 1 1/2 cup maize meal to the center of the water.
  3. Close with a tight fitting lid. Do not stir.
  4. Allow to cook on medium heat for 5-8 mins, without opening the pot. After the initial cook of 5-8 mins, lower the stove heat.
  5. Lift the pot lid and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon or handle of wooden spoon.
  6. Cook the Phuthu for 30 mins, on low heat with the pot lid on. After 15 mins, sprinkle in the remainder 1/2 Cup Maize Meal, and use the wooden spoon or fork to fluff up the phuthu pap.
  7. Warm the savoury mince in a pan and serve with the Phutu.
