INGREDIENTS

  • 3 tbsp. oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. Hinds mild and spicy curry powder
  • 5 medium carrots, peeled and grated
  • 1 can Rhodes Quality chopped and peeled tomatoes with garlic
  • 1 can Rhodes Quality baked beans
  • 1 tbsp. Hinds mixed herbs
  • 1 can Bull Brand corned meat – diced into 2cm cubes
  • Seasoning

METHOD

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the Hinds curry powder and stir to combine.
  3. Add the carrots and stir to make sure they are well combined with the other ingredients and coated in the curry powder.
  4. Add the Rhodes Quality tomatoes with garlic and stir. Cook until the mixture is well combined and slightly thickened – 2 to 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the Rhodes Quality baked beans, Hinds mixed herbs and the Bull Brand corned meat.
  6. Stir to combine.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve hot or cold.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped into 1cm quarters
  • 350 g frozen peas
  • 340 g can Bull Brand Corned Meat, cut into 2cm cubes
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 beef stock cube, made up to 400ml
  • 1 packet Todays Puff Pastry, defrosted
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 30 g margarine
  • 85 ml vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tbsp. dried parsley

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C.
  2. In a shallow casserole dish, heat the oil and cook the onions for 6 to 8 minutes over medium heat until beginning to brown. Add the chopped carrot and frozen peas and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Gently stir through the corned meat and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until beginning to colour. Add the Worcestershire sauce and the stock and season with black pepper.
  4. Unroll the pastry and use a rolling pin to roll a bit wider if needed.
  5. Cut the pastry into quarters.
  6. Spoon some filling onto one half of the pastry rectangle
  7. Wet the edges of the pastry rectangle with a little milk and fold over the top of the filling, ensuring it is sealed well. Score an “X” into the middle to allow steam to escape and trim off any excess pastry.
  8. Brush all over with the milk and bake for 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown on a baking tray.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Todays short crust pastry, defrosted
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat, diced into 1cm cubes.
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, finely ground
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C.
  2. Roll out 1 sheet of short crust pastry on a lightly floured surface or in between two pieces of parchment paper, then transfer to the greased tart pan. Press the pastry dough into the pan with your fingers to mold it to the pan. Freeze for about 30 minutes
  3. While the pie crust is in the freezer, preheat a large frying pan over medium heat and add the diced onions and gently fry until soft.
  4. Add the diced Bull Brand corned Meat, stirring it often until the fat is rendered and the Bull Brand is crispy. Remove the Bull Brand with a slotted spoon to a separate dish.
  5. Place the pie dish which has been lined with baking beans or uncooked rice and blind bake into the oven for 10 to 20 minutes.
  6. In a large bowl whisk the eggs, and then add the milk, salt, pepper, paprika and nutmeg and whisk together for about a few minutes to incorporate a little bit of air into the mixture.
  7. Stir in the cheese and the Bull Brand and onion mixture.
  8. Pour the filling into the prebaked crust.
  9. Place the pie back into the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the filling set.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 200 grams spinach, stalks removed, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp dried coriander
  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat, diced into 1cm cubes
  • 1 can Rhodes Quality cream style sweetcorn
  • 1 tbsp Hinds Mixed dried herbs
  • 100 g maize meal
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Oil, for cooking fritters

Mayo Topping:

  • 4 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • Lemon juice, a squeeze
  • Seasoning

Garnish:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Chopped parsley

METHOD

  1. For the fritters: Heat the oil in a large pan and sauté the garlic and onion for 1 minute.
  2. Add the spinach, coriander and mixed herbs and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the Bull Brand corned meat and stir.
  4. Stir in the maize meal and sweetcorn and mix. Pour in 160 ml water, season with salt and pepper and stir to combine until the spinach is wilted and the maize meal and sweetcorn resemble chunky mashed potatoes. Cook for a further 10 minutes.
  5. Set aside until cool enough to handle.
  6. For the mayo topping: mix the mayonnaise, lemon zest and lemon juice together in a small bowl and set aside.
  7. Take a teaspoon of the fritter mix and shape into mini balls. Flatten slightly and firmly squeeze to make sure the fritters are compact so they don’t break when you fry them. Add the oil to a heated nonstick pan.
  8. Cook the fritters until golden, about 1 minute on each side.
  9. Place the fritters on a serving platter and place the mayo into a dipping bowl on the side.
  10. Serve with fresh lemon wedges and garnish with parsley.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml full cream milk
  • 40 g margarine, melted
  • 500 ml cake flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 onion, finely diced
  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat, diced into
  • 1cm cubes
  • 1/2 cup cheddar, grated

METHOD

  1. Whisk the eggs, milk and margarine together.
  2. In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt together.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour the liquid mixture into the well. Slowly whisk the dry ingredients into the liquid until smooth and well combined.
  4. Add the onion and diced Bull Brand and grated cheese and fold gently until just incorporated.
  5. Cover the bowl and allow to stand for 2 hours
  6. Heat a large non-stick frying pan over a medium to high heat.
  7. Pour spoonfuls of the batter into the frying pan and cook until golden brown.
  8. Turn it over and cook on the other side for another minute or until golden brown. Continue with the remaining batter. Cover and keep warm until ready to serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 gem squash, cut in half and seeds removed (1 squash per person)
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 300 g can Bull Brand Corned Meat – diced into 1cm cubes
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 2 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C.
  2. In a pot of boiling water, add the gem squash and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until soft. Remove from the water when soft and allow to cool before cutting in half and removing the seeds.
  3. Brush a little vegetable oil all over the surface of the squash and sprinkle it with salt.
  4. Bake the gem squash in the middle of the oven for about 10 minutes at 170°C.
  5. Brown the Bull Brand Corned Meat in a pan with a tbsp. oil and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add the carrots, garlic, and cook until soft.
  7. Add the tomato paste and combine well.
  8. Cook for 3 minutes before adding the water and allowing the mixture to simmer together for 3 minutes.
  9. Take out the Gem squash from the oven.
  10. Stuff the squash with the mince and vegetable mixture, Top each squash with the cheddar cheese. and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 gem squash, cut in half and seeds removed (1 squash per person)
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 2 tbsp. Hinds medium curry powder
  • 1 tsp. Hinds ginger powder
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat, cubed into 2cm cubes
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 250 ml hot water
  • 2 tbsp. Rhodes tomato paste
  • 2 cups spinach leaves , shredded
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt (optional)
  • 1/4 cup coriander, roughly chopped (optional)

METHOD

  1. In a small bowl combine the mild curry powder and ginger and the oil to form a paste.
  2. Heat the remaining oil in a deep-frying pan over a medium-high heat.
  3. Add the Bull Brand Corned Meat and cook for 3 minutes on each side.
  4. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. Rest for at least 5 minutes.
  5. In the same pan heat a dash of oil over a medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring for 3 minutes or until soft.
  6. Add the chilli powder.
  7. Cook, stirring for 1 minute or until fragrant.
  8. Add the curry paste and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
  9. Crumble the beef stock cube into a jug of the hot water and add to the pan with the tomato paste.
  10. Bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to a medium-low.
  11. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  12. Add the fried corned meat and the spinach and cook for 10 minutes.
  13. Serve with a drizzle of the yoghurt (optional) and the coriander.

  • 3 medium potatoes, sliced 0.5cm thick
  • 3 carrots, sliced 1cm in thickness
  • 2 cups frozen cut green beans
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat cut into 1cm cubes
  • 1 can Rhodes Quality Tomato and Onion 
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 medium tomatoes sliced into rounds
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. In a medium sized casserole dish, layer half the potatoes, carrots, green beans and onion.
  3. Sprinkle half the Bull Brand Corned Meat over vegetables.
  4. In a saucepan, add the Rhodes Quality Tomato and Onion mix
  5. Add the thyme, salt and pepper and allow to reduce until slightly thickened.
  6. Spoon over half of the tomato mixture.
  7. Repeat layers until the ingredients are finished.
  8. Top with the sliced tomatoes.
  9. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and bake at 200°C for 15 minutes.
  10. Reduce heat to 150°C; bake about 1 hour longer or until vegetables are tender.

  • 1 can Bull Brand Corned Meat – cubed into 4cm
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 6 carrots, peeled and cut into 2cm rounds
  • 3 dried bay leaves
  • 2 tsp. Hinds dried mixed herbs
  • 1 can Rhodes Quality chopped and peeled tomatoes and garlic
  • 2-3 tbsp Bisto gravy powder
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 packet of brown onion soup powder
  • 300 g baby potatoes, cut into quarters
  • Sugar to taste
  • Freshly ground salt and pepper to taste

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C .
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the Bull Brand corned meat cubes.
  3. Once slightly browned, remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In a casserole dish, fry the onions until soft and translucent.
  5. Add the carrots, bay leaves and mixed herbs and sauté until softened and fragrant.
  6. Add the Rhodes Quality chopped and peeled tomatoes, beef stock, gravy powder, water and onion soup powder.
  7. Bring mixture to a simmer.
  8. Add the baby potatoes.
  9. Cover with a lid and cook for about 40 minutes in the oven until the potatoes are soft.
  10. Drop the temperature to 150˚C and cook for a further 25 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
  11. Add the fried Bull brand corned meat cubes and gently combine.
  12. Season with sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
  13. Serve with rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 tbsp. margarine
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 whole dried bay leaf
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 beef stock cubes 
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 large potato, chopped
  • 1 can Bull Brand corned meat, chopped
  • 1 sheet Today puff pastry, defrosted
  • 1 egg, beaten

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over a medium heat and then add the onion, carrots, thyme and bay leaf. Sauté until the onions and carrots have softened and then add the flour.
  3. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until flour turns golden and then slowly whisk in the stock followed by the milk.
  4. Season with salt and pepper and then bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Continue to cook the sauce for 6 to 8 minutes until it begins to thicken. Then, add the cabbage and potatoes.
  6. Cook until the carrots and potatoes have begun to soften and the cabbage has started to wilt. Remove and discard the bay leaf.
  7. Fold in the cooked corned meat and then remove the skillet from the

  9. Fill individual oven-safe ramekins with the mixture.
  10. Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into four equal squares
  11. Place the rolled pastry over each ramekin and then brush it with the beaten egg.
  12. Finally, make 3 to 4 slits on the top of each pot pie using a sharp knife.
  13. Bake until the pastry is puffed and golden. About 30 to 35 minutes.
  14. Remove the pies from the oven and let set for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
  15. Garnish with fresh parsley.
